it might have been created on 8chan for all I know but it started in 2016 on /pol/ from what I can tell, and was revitalized when the AI memes took off in 2023
sadly Bing Dall-E, the only API really capable of doing actual memes, was quickly censored and lobotomized
and thus the threads were mostly abandoned with occasional resurgences when China would release something like the Hailuo Minimax which was responsible for lots of the early AI video slop memes prior to Sora 2
